On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India organized Exclusive exhibition of Handmade Products by Awardee Women Artisans & Weavers at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Smt Rashmi Verma, Secretary -Textiles, Govt of India inaugurated an exclusive exhibition of Handmade Products by 44 Awardee Women Artisans & weavers at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi on 8th March 2017. The exhibition will be opened for public for 8 days from 08th to 15th March, 2017 at 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Through this special initiative of Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India provides an opportunity to the 44 women awardee Artisans and Weavers to sell their products directly to the customers thus will enhance the livelihood of many more women who are dependent on them. This is an exclusive exhibition of handmade products which will empower those who weave magic. The exhibition covers Women Weavers of handloom products from different states like Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Hyderabad, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Tripura. The products includes Eri Silk, Muga Silk, Gujarat Ikat, Kuchch Shawl, Pochampally Ikat, Kullu Shawl, Wangkheiphee, Tie & Dye Cotton Saree, Benarasi Saree, Kota Dorai Saree and Jamdani saree. In the Handicraft section, there are women artisans from Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, West Bengal, Ragarh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Gujarat, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Guwahati and Manipur. The range of products include Pattachitra, Tie & Dye, Bead Jewellery, Crochet Lace, Kantha Embroidery, Thanjavur Glass Painting, Bell Metal, Shawl as Artware, Natural Fiber, Chikan Embroidery, Stone Craving, Doll Making, Cane & Bamboo Jewellery, Tribal Textiles, Wood carving, Hand embroidery, leather craft, Madhubani Painting and Scratch Painting.
